This May, Don and I traveled out to the UK to explore around with Family AND take a peek at where we will be living this fall! We started in the Norfolk area of England, traveled to the northern most part of England to a little town called Kirknewton where we stayed at the most Incredible, secluded airbnb called Crookhouse Mill. From there we headed up and explored Edinburgh, Scotland (which was my absolute favorite part of the trip). Scotland absolutely showed off for us! A local said that the weather we had there (VERY foggy and overcast with a slight drizzle) is NOT typical for Edinburgh is May. That’s typically November Weather. But I was NOT complaining. It made all my spooky, eerie, Edinburgh dreams come true. Even with a bit of rain! Plus, it was neat to be there during King Charles III Coronation! Ate at the witchery where witches used to be burned at the stake outside the Edinburgh castle. We toured the Museum of Scotland and my personal favorite artifact was a contraption they used to use on women who used to gossip.
After Edinburgh, we ventured down to Wales where we spent a bit more time relaxing and enjoying nature. We hiked down to a fairy glenn and spent the day skipping rocks by the river, and we chatted with a local named Brian the Bricklayer who told us he would gladly be our tour guide of Llanwrst if we were ever to return. We went to the Great Orme mines which BLEW my mind! It felt like I was in a human ant hill deep in a mountain!
For our last couple of days, we took the train down from Cambridge to London to explore the city there! From Buckingham palace, to the change of the guards, Big Ben, Wesminster Abby, The London Bridge and Tower of London, Ate at Ted Lasso’s pub location, and a personal favorite… Churchills war rooms! Such incredible food and history!
